Event Details:Sylvester Monroe is an Assistant Foreign Editor for the Washington Post, overseeing the paper's coverage of Europe and South Asia. He joined the Post staff in Aug., 2014 continuing a career that has spanned more than 40 years in newspapers, magazines, and radio and television journalism. The veteran reporter, writer, editor and newsroom manager is also the co-author with Peter Goldman, of a best-selling book, "Brothers: Black and Poor, a true story of courage and survival." In it, Monroe examined the lives of 11 of his childhood friends from the Robert Taylor Homes housing project in Chicago where he grew up. Monroe graduated from Harvard University, cum laude with a B.A. in Social Studies. A frequent public speaker at schools, colleges and conventions in the US and abroad, Monroe now lives in Washington, DC.
